Flooding lawsuit benefits from later court ruling

A state appeals panel last week revived the lawsuit brought by a group of Maine Township homeowners who say their homes were flooded due to the presence of a nearby hospital.In what “appears to be a case of first impression,” the 1st District Appellate Court found a 2016 Illinois Supreme Court case abolishing the public duty rule had retroactive application.The appellate court restored some of the claims the plaintiffs raised against the defendants, including the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of …
