Not just a warning: Tougher fines for distracted driving

SPRINGFIELD — Starting next week, distracted driving will be considered a moving violation — with three violations in a year leading to a license suspension. Currently, drivers who use an electronic device while driving are sent off with a warning on their first offense. But come July 1, they will be given a moving violation and a $75 fine.
