GOP, Dems line up heavyweight speakers for state fair speeches

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois State Fair starts Thursday and the Republican and Democratic organizations have announced nationwide leaders to help draw attention to their respective events.U.S. House Minority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana will be the keynote speaker for the Republican Day rally that starts at noon on Aug. 15. “We are elated to have such a prominent conservative leader join us at the Illinois State Fair,” Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider said in a statement.&ldquo …
