Madigan sets up task force to combat gun violence

SPRINGFIELD — House Speaker Michael J. Madigan announced the formation of a task force on gun violence. The task force’s primary goal is to produce legislation to overhaul the state’s gun laws.Madigan developed the House Firearm Public Awareness Task Force to “review the issue of gun violence and make recommendations to reduce violence.”The 24-member bipartisan task force announced Sept. 13 will be lead by Democratic Rep.
