In what is billed as a landmark environmental law ruling in a land across the river, Chicago firm Miner Barnhill & Galland P.C. won a class-certification battle last week before the Iowa Supreme Court. The state high court’s ruling in Freeman v. Grain Processing Corp. will allow a set of Muscatine residents to bring nuisance, negligence and trespass claims against a corn wet mill on behalf of thousands of residents within a 1.5-mile radius of the mill for allegedly emitting harmful pollution into the neighborhood.
