Illinois Attorney General Lisa M. Madigan and 14 counterparts last week urged the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to block the Trump administration from withholding public safety grants from so-called sanctuary jurisdictions. The attorneys general filed a friend-of-the-court brief supporting a nationwide injunction that bars the U.S. Justice Department from requiring jurisdictions to cooperate with immigration officials as a condition of receiving funds from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.
