American Bar Association President Hilarie Bass sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions this week urging him not to close the Office for Access to Justice, and for the Justice Department to “continue to prioritize access to justice under the law for all Americans as part of its core mission.” The office, created in 2010 under former U.S. attorney general Eric Holder, works to ensure fair outcomes and improve legal assistance and accessibility for all, including financially disadvantaged individuals.
