California’s decision to reclassify some felony drug convictions as misdemeanors came too late for one woman. The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals this week affirmed a decision by U.S. District Judge J. Phil Gilbert of the Southern District of Illinois to impose an enhanced sentence of 10 years in prison on Vickie L. Sanders.
