SPRINGFIELD — Guardians ad litem have civil immunity when acting within the scope of their roles, the Illinois Supreme Court ruled last week.In 2004, Alexis Nichols received a $600,000 settlement for injuries she suffered in a car accident at age 11.Because of her age, a Madison County judge appointed Nichols’ mother, Jelanda Miller, as guardian to administer her estate.
