Agency that regulates appraisers can’t nab tax lawyers

A judge ruled the state agency that regulates real estate appraisers cannot prosecute property tax lawyers for including comparable property information in a legal brief.The Illinois State Bar Association requested an injunction in July 2017 against the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, department Secretary Bryan A. Schneider and Real Estate Division Director Kreg T. Allison to stop the department from sanctioning attorneys for allegedly violating the Appraisal Act.The IDFPR contended a lawyer …
