Trip-and-fall at hotel nets worker $3M

A Cook County jury awarded $3 million Tuesday to a worker who sustained neck, shoulder and back injuries in 2013 tripping over a cart at The Palm Restaurant inside the Swissotel Chicago.The award was slightly reduced to $2.85 million after jurors found plaintiff Matthew Soraghan 5 percent negligent. The verdict against the restaurant and the hotel which houses it was reached after a weeklong Daley Center trial before Cook County Associate Judge Rena Maria Van Tine.Soraghan sued Chicago Palm Inc., Swissotel Chicago Inc …
