The Biden administration is seeking to intervene on the side of private plaintiffs who filed a lawsuit alleging the city of Chicago has failed to provide accessible pedestrian signals — devices that provide pedestrians who are blind or have low vision with crossing information through audible tones, speech messages or vibrotactile surfaces — at more than 99% of the intersections with signals. The suit alleges the city is violating the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
