Rauner wants speaker term limit on the books

SPRINGFIELD — Gov. Bruce Rauner called again for term limits that would keep House Speaker Michael J. Madigan from continuing his run as speaker.But he refused to say if House Republican Leader James B. Durkin, in the House for more than 11 years and minority leader for the past five, should also face term limits.Rauner signed what he calls “The People’s Pledge” Wednesday, which aims to impose term limits on state elected officials.
