Sports betting bill in limbo on last day of legislative session

SPRINGFIELD — Lawmakers have discussed legalizing sports betting since before the start of legislative session, but as the end of session arrives today, stakeholders can’t agree on the language in the bill — some going as far as saying a recently proposed “penalty box” provision would not withstand a court challenge.A group of four attorneys from Jenner & Block LLP representing fantasy sports providers FanDuel and DraftKings wrote a 32-page memorandum obtained by the Daily Law Bulletin …
