A volunteer prison debate coach has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit this week against Illinois Department of Corrections officials who shut down her debate team in Stateville Correctional Center and banned her from all state prisons.Katrina Burlet claims prison Director John Baldwin and Assistant Director Glaydse Taylor violated her First Amendment rights when they disbanded the prison debate team and prevented, for no legitimate purpose, team members from engaging in protected speech.The lawsuit seeks to reinstate …
