The Chicago Tribune dove into Lori Lightfoot’s legal career in response to criticism from Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle that Lightoot could not be a progressive candidate because she was a “wealthy corporate lawyer” at Mayer Brown. Lawyers at the firm have defended the city in lawsuits alleging police misconduct; in those cases, Lightfoot often helped negotiate settlements.
