Shannon McNulty
CLIFFORD LAW OFFICES
ATTORNEY

Shannon M. McNulty, partner at Clifford Law Offices, heads the mass torts/class action practice area at the firm. She often leads such litigation nationally, serving as co-lead counsel, liaison counsel or key committee positions for discovery and trial. Shannon presently serves as co-lead counsel in the Cook County Johnson & Johnson talcum powder litigation and also in the Cook County DePuy hip litigation. She also serves as liaison counsel in several matters pending in various state and federal courts, and recently led the Pella Proline Windows litigation to a successful conclusion of a $34.75 million settlement. In the Cook County talcum powder litigation, McNulty prevented the defendants’ removal of dozens of cases from the victims’ home forum, a litigation history subsequently relied on by hundreds of women who suffered ovarian cancer. Recently, she was named one of the five Lead Counsel in the only multi-district litigation involving Covid-19 business interruption claims.

Her successes in Chicago as a personal injury and wrongful death attorney include the multiple death and severe personal injury cases of those who were trapped in the fire at the Cook County Administration Building in October 2003. The high-profile cases dealt with the workings of the 911 response system in Chicago, something with which Shannon has a great deal of experience through her earlier work in the administration of the Chicago Police Department where she served as the Director of Administration in the Bureau of Operational Services. In this critical role, she was Chief of Staff to the First Deputy Superintendent. She is part of the legal team that handles cases involving the rollover of a number of sport utility vehicles that have resulted in the deaths or serious injuries of their occupants. Shannon also was involved in the trial of a small plane crash case at a Chicago suburban airport that killed everyone aboard. That trial resulted in a $12 million verdict.

Shannon attended night law school at DePaul while working full-time and completed law school one year ahead of schedule. She holds a Masters of Science degree from the School of Management of Public Services at DePaul University, which bestowed upon her the American Society of Public Administrators’ Student of the Year Award. She graduated cum laude from Loyola University in Chicago with a Bachelor of Science degree. She has been named a Leading Lawyer, a Super Lawyer and a Best Lawyer.

Shannon gives back to the Chicago community having worked in the Albany Park neighborhood on crime prevention efforts, which resulted in her being recognized for outstanding service by the U.N.I.T.E. civic organization. She has worked with several associations of public housing residents throughout the city for the purpose of organizing and fulfilling the needs of children, including school supplies, holiday meals and gifts as well as mentoring opportunities with police command staff. She served as a founding Board Member of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation that raises money for protective vests for officers.
