Marc Zaslavsky
Levenfeld Pearlstein, LLC
Mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions

More than a legal advisor. That's what the clients whom Marc Zaslavsky has represented say about this young mergers and acquisitions and corporate transactions specialist. Instead, they say, Zaslavsky is a business partner to his clients, working tirelessly to lead them to the best possible results in the most efficient way possible.

Christian Bigelow, Vice President of Legal with Fuchs Lubricants Co., knows just how talented Zaslavsky is, having relied on him to complete several significant M&A transactions since 2014. The pair has completed at least one acquisition in each of the last several years.

Bigelow said that Zaslavsky has that rare ability to take the complexity out of the most technical legal and financial issues. He can then communicate these issues clearly to his clients so that they can make the best decisions for their business.

"It is not unusual that we will call on Marc to communicate complex legal issues to executive leadership," Bigelow said. "Rather than getting bogged down with the technical aspects of the law when speaking with business team members, Marc distills these issues into practical business terms so that our entire team is informed and equipped to make the best decisions possible."

While Zaslavsky has guided Fuchs through several mergers and acquisitions, he has also worked with the company's global stakeholders on other complex issues, helping its legal team meet its varied reporting obligations.

Zaslavsky recently led a cross-disciplinary team of attorneys to help Fuchs close one of its larger deals.

"Not only did he skillfully handle the complicated legal issues involved, he guided us through a complicated process with his calm demeanor and straightforward approach to legal advice," Bigelow said. "Marc is a joy to work with and he elevates our legal team to the next level."

The dedication that Zaslavsky shows to his clients has helped this young attorney quickly build a thriving career. Today, he represents middle-market privately held companies in a variety of industries. His clients also include private equity funds and independent sponsors. Zaslavsky also leads and coordinates cross-disciplinary teams of lawyers and consultants to complete transactions and meet client objectives.

Bigelow points to the work that Zaslavsky turned in when leading Fuchs through a recent large acquisition. The deal involved several complicated legal issues that Fuchs hadn’t dealt with before, including special government clearance. Zaslavsky researched the process and provided Fuchs' legal team, management and board of directors with focused information on how to navigate the process so that everyone had a clear understanding of the issues.

The seller in this transaction didn’t want any liability post-closing. Zaslavsky helped Fuchs obtain a Representations & Warranty insurance policy, something that was also new to the company.

"Marc’s guidance went above and beyond typical legal advice and included practical business guidance," Bigelow said. "Not only is Marc a knowledgeable attorney, but he excels in the personal touch he brings to the practice of law. Marc brings humility and compassion to transactional lawyering. As a result, with his acknowledgement that M&A deals can be an emotional experience for all parties involved, he yields greater cooperation from all stakeholders."
