Convicted judge Jessica O’Brien resigns

The Illinois Supreme Court announced today that convicted Cook County Circuit Judge Jessica O’Brien has left the bench.O’Brien was convicted following a federal jury trial in February for her involvement in a $1.4 million mortgage fraud scheme. Her sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 9.O’Brien told the high court she would only fight to keep her spot on the bench until her post-trial motions were exhausted.The Illinois Supreme Court suspended O’Brien from practicing law in April and referred the matter …
