Kilbride. In that column, the professor questioned the legitimacy of recent Illinois Supreme Court appointments.

We write in response to Jim Nowlan’s Dec. 9 column, “State Supreme Court Appointments Questionable, At Best.”Mr. Nowlan’s attacks on our Supreme Court are uninformed and irresponsible. Nothing in his column contains even a trace of legal analysis — which perhaps is unsurprising, given that he is not a lawyer — much less any evidence of wrongdoing.There is nothing unconstitutional, inappropriate, or even unusual about the Supreme Court’s practice of filling judicial vacancies.The …

Judge rejects ‘specific patient rule’ in case over false claims, kickbacks
