Suit challenging abortion law appealed to Ill. Supreme Court

SPRINGFIELD — An anti-abortion group has filed an appeal with the Illinois Supreme Court seeking to block a law allowing state-funded abortions. This time, the challenge is on balanced-budget grounds.The Thomas More Society, a nonprofit, public-interest firm, petitioned the state’s top court to take up its case contesting the constitutionality of House Bill 40.
