The Illinois Election Code prohibits Liberty Principles — an independent expenditure committee that is permitted to raise and spend unlimited amounts of money as long as there is no coordination with campaigns — from directly contributing to candidates. Defendants attack assignment as champertous

Judge rejects ‘specific patient rule’ in case over false claims, kickbacks
