The 1st District Appellate Court on Friday ordered the removal of Edwardsville Mayor Hal Patton, a Republican, from the March 20 primary ballot for the southern Senate District 56. Patton signed the nominating petition of a Democratic House candidate before he signed his statement of candidacy as a Republican, which is not allowed under the state’s election law, the panel found.
