1675 New York Fishing Co. became the first corporation chartered in the United States. 1970 Farmers sued Max Yasgur for $35,000 in damages caused by the music festival Woodstock. Yasgur, a prominent dairy farmer, leased one of his fields to the organizers of the event, attended by more than 450,000 people. The lawsuit was eventually dropped, but Yasgur was reimbursed $50,000 by the festival.
