Illinois shoulders much of its own costs

Illinois ranks 47th among the 50 U.S. states when it comes to relying on federal resources, personal-finance website WalletHub reported. Only three other states — Delaware, Minnesota and New Jersey — lean less on Uncle Sam. Kentucky is the most federally dependent state. Analysts examined states’ return on federal taxes, share of federal jobs and federal funding as a share of tax revenue.
