Amazon.com Inc. is not responsible for the damage caused by a defective hoverboard sold through the company’s online marketplace, a federal judge held.In a written opinion this week, U.S. District Judge Virginia M. Kendall granted summary judgment in favor of Amazon in a lawsuit filed by a Naperville couple whose home was damaged after the hoverboard self-ignited.Kendall held Annette and David Garber do not have claims against Amazon under Illinois law for strict liability and negligence.The Garbers sued Amazon and …
