City council OKs $745K payout to end misconduct cases

Chicago aldermen this week quickly voted to settle three lawsuits alleging police misconduct for a total of $745,000.On Monday, the city council’s Finance Committee approved three settlement orders on the agenda without hearing public testimony or debate from First Assistant Corporation Counsel Kathleen A. Hill. The full council on Wednesday also voted to settle the lawsuits without debate.The largest settlement — $350,000 — will be paid to Cora Howard, whose then-15-year-old daughter Alexis Stapleton was …
